Our laboratory aims to realize a socially, culturally, and economically human-scale living environment in terms of architecture and urban planning and design. Gentai Obuse (M.A., 2019) received the 2023 Urban Society of Japan Paper Award for his peer-reviewed paper, "Analysis of Issues in Local Livelihoods from the Perspective of Trial and Error in Creating Mobile Vending Usage Bases : Focusing on Business Development in Depopulated Areas in Hokkaido, Japan". Professor Suguru Mori has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Asian Architecture and Building Engineering.(2023.11.1)

Professor Suguru Mori has contributed to the improvement of the quality of the Journal of the Architectural Institute of Japan through more than a certain number of excellent reviews in the Transactions of the Architectural Institute of Japan, and has been awarded as a distinguished reviewer of the Transactions of the Architectural Institute of Japan. Ken Tsubouchi (Sapporo City University, Assistant Professor, Ph.D. Completed in 2021) was awarded the 8th JSPS Doctoral Dissertation Award in 2022 for his doctoral dissertation, "A Study of Clinical Research Approach for Environment Transition in Community Relocation after the Great East Japan Earthquake".
